The 海角社区 Alumni Association is proud to announce the launch of 1886 John Carroll Lager, the first-ever official beer of the John Carroll alumni community. This special edition lager will be brewed for the institution by Cleveland’s Great Lakes Brewing Company, the 18th largest craft brewery in the United States of America. 1886 John Carroll Lager will be available for purchase in Northeast Ohio beginning in early September at select bars and Heinen's grocery stores.
1886 John Carroll Lager is a crisp golden lager with an ABV of 4%. Brewed with a hint of lime for a refreshing finish, it is a toast to enduring Jesuit values, friendships built on campus, and lifelong Blue Streak pride. It is the perfect beer for the John Carroll Alumni Community.
“John Carroll alumni are a hard-working, spirited, and fun-loving group of people who deserve their own beer,” said Rory O’Neil ’06, Executive Director of Alumni Engagement for 海角社区. “We are so happy to partner with Great Lakes Brewing to produce a great-tasting beer that will bring the spirit of our beautiful campus to many John Carroll get-togethers this fall.”
The John Carroll Alumni Association will host two launch events of 1886 John Carroll Lager on and . Registered guests will receive a complimentary draft 1886 John Carroll Lager beer and have the ability to purchase a six-pack to take home. Six-packs can be reserved via the registration form for each event and there will be a limit to 1 case per person. Additional 1886 John Carroll Lager swag (coasters, posters, etc.) will be available for purchase at both events.
John Carroll will also host an 1886 John Carroll Lager tent on South Belvoir Blvd at the Homecoming Weekend tailgate on Saturday, Oct. 25 prior to the 1 p.m. football game.

"We hope the John Carroll community will join us at our launch events on September 12th in Lakewood and September 18th in Mayfield Heights.”
The beer will also be available for limited time (while supplies last) at all 19 locations of Heinen’s Grocery Store beginning Friday, September 19, 2025. It will also be served at Crowley’s at Carroll on Fairmount Circle (scheduled to open in August), Plank Road Tavern in Lakewood, and Pizzazz on the Circle.
